Warm Room Roof
Fitting the Warm Room Roof
Warm Room Roof
The warm room roof was constructed by fixing beams across from the north west wall to the partition wall between the warm and scope room. The partition wall is a few inches higher than the external walls and this provides a gradient of approximately 1 in 25, which has been sufficient to ensure water is shed from the roof. Sheets of 6mm plywood were then nailed down onto the beams.
The weatherproof covering is a single piece of EDPM rubber sheeting. Although significantly more expensive than traditional roofing felt, it is lighter and much easier to work with. Also it has a much longer lifespan so is well worth the addtional outlay.
The rubber is fixed to the plywood by a water based adhesive that was purchased with the rubber sheeting. This was applied using a foam paint roller.
Later on in the project the rubber will be trimmed to size and the edges fixed down using lengths of wooden batten.
