Observatory Construction Project
These pages document the construction of the observatory at our previous house in North Yorkshire, which was in operation for 10 years.
After years of admiring all the terrific observatory builds by other amateur astronomers, a move to a new house presented the opportunity to finally do my own build. The observatory is a Roll Off Roof (ROR) design with dimensions of 4.8m * 2.4m. The observatory is split into a warm room and a scope room with the roof above the scope room rolling back across the warm room.
The build began in September 2012, although ideas and designs were being formed for at least a couple of years prior to that. The observatory was operational after about 6 months.
